Time is money when it comes to vessels in the yard or out of service due to component removal or disassembly. With MARINE DESCALING'S dockside application of RYDLYMEmarine, labor costs and down time are both kept to a minimum while systems are kept in optimum condition.
Equipment is cleaned in place without the added costs of disassembly & removal; all in a matter of hours, not days. Our service can be accomplished dockside or while your vessel is on the hard for other work.
SERVICES
Traditional descaling methods require removal of engine components such as heat exchangers and exhaust manifolds, generators, air conditioners and other affected systems which are then acid-boiled with caustic chemicals or mechanically cleaned – laborious processes which are costly, time consuming and can ultimately degrade components. MARINE DESCALING offers convenient, self-contained dockside service that eliminates costly mechanic charges and de-scales water cooled systems in-vessel and in-place – all in a matter of a few hours. This quick, effective and reliable service saves both time and money – insuring complete system cleaning while reducing downtime from days to only a few hours; keeping your vessel out of the yard and in service.
This safe and effective system quickly and completely dissolves rock-like scale deposits that contaminate water-cooled marine equipment. RYDLYMEmarine is properly circulated throughout the cooling system to bring the solution in contact with the accumulated deposits. The process dissolves the built-up deposits into solution which is then water flushed away – leaving clean, open water cooling galleries.
It is completely safe for use on all engine and cooling system metals and will not harm seals, gaskets, impellers and other ancillary components. It has been formulated to dissolve zinc, which insures that broken pieces of heat exchanger/internal zincs which commonly clog cooling galleries are safely and completely removed during descaling. New zincs (owner provided) must be installed following de-scaling. MARINE DESCALING recommends the installation of a new thermostat and raw water impeller at the time of servicing as part of your prudent preventative maintenance.
Why engines and water cooled systems should be descaled on a routine basis...
As a general rule, flushing a seawater-cooled engine once a year is a good preventative maintenance measure. This is especially important on engines with flexible rubber impellers as marine growth is the most common cause of impeller failure. Monitoring engine temperature and outflow is crucial. A consistent temperature increase of 5-10 degrees could mean a problem is starting to form within the cooling system. On most engines, seawater discharged from the engine is used to cool the exhaust gases exiting the engine. If this water flow is reduced, steam (or white smoke) will begin to exit from the exhaust. One reason may be a clogged heat exchanger or after-cooler. Descaling the engine is an inexpensive alternative to potentially severe damage requiring overhaul or replacement.
Marine air conditioners are highly susceptible to internal mineral scaling and fouling by marine growth. This fouling can manifest in one or more ways; reduced raw water outflow, occasional to frequent high pressure alarm tripping when in cooling mode or an overheating raw water pump. Any of these issues signal the need to flush the cooling water coil system free of rust, mineral scale, marine growth, silt and mud. Most marine air conditioner manufacturers recommend flushing the cooling loop one to two times per year, depending on usage. Our dockside flush with RYDLYMEmarine not only removes loose sediment, but also leaves the cooling loop and lines free of accumulated hard scale and marine growth that a plain fresh water flush can't accomplish.
Remember, just 1/64 inch of scale or marine growth can reduce flow by as much as 20% in heat exchangers, exhaust manifolds and other critical systems...
Make descaling a part of your routine annual maintenance program.
